Epidural (Painless) Birth

Epidural (Painless) Birth

Epidural (popularly known as "princess birth") is a natural birth method in which labor pain is eliminated with anesthetic medication delivered through a thin catheter placed in the lower back. The mother feels the contractions and actively participates by pushing, but feels no pain.

How Is It Applied?

After labor begins, an anesthesiologist places a catheter in the lower back under local anesthesia. The procedure takes a few minutes and is not painful. The medication dose is adjusted according to the course of labor.

Advantages

  • No labor pain is felt, fear of birth decreases
  • The mother stays energetic and actively participates
  • First contact with the baby after birth is more comfortable
  • The same catheter can be used if a cesarean becomes necessary

For expectant mothers afraid of vaginal delivery, epidural birth is the most preferred method today. Contact our clinic for detailed information.
