Childbirth (Vaginal and Cesarean): That Unique Moment You Healthily Embrace Your Baby
The most exciting and unforgettable moment of the pregnancy journey is undoubtedly the moment of birth when you hold your baby in your arms for the first time. Every expectant mother’s dream is to complete this process in the safest, most comfortable, and healthiest way for both herself and her baby. Although labor is a completely natural process, it is of great importance that it takes place in a reassuring environment under the supervision of an experienced physician to protect maternal and infant health.
Op. Dr. Sadık Sözdinler stands by your side in this special adventure from pregnancy tracking to the moment of birth in Izmir, with his medical experience, mother-friendly approach, and calming communication.

How is the Method of Delivery Decided?
Many expectant mothers wonder from the beginning of their pregnancy how the birth will be. However, it should not be forgotten that every pregnancy is unique like a fingerprint. The method of delivery (vaginal or cesarean) is decided together with your doctor in the last weeks of pregnancy, taking into account the expectant mother’s pelvic structure, the baby’s weight, its position in the womb, and medical conditions that may develop during pregnancy.
Our goal is not to prioritize one delivery method over another; but to choose the method that is safest for the mother and baby at that moment.

Vaginal Delivery (Normal Delivery)
Vaginal delivery is a physiological process that proceeds in the body’s own natural rhythm unless there is a medical obstacle.

Advantages: The mother can get up very shortly after giving birth and quickly return to her daily chores and caring for her baby. The baby gets a stronger start to its immune system thanks to the beneficial bacteria it swallows while passing through the birth canal.
Painless Childbirth (Epidural Analgesia): It is the most preferred method today for expectant mothers who are afraid of vaginal delivery. Thanks to the anesthesia administered through a thin catheter placed in the lower back, the expectant mother feels the contractions and actively participates in the birth by pushing, but does not feel “pain and agony.”

Cesarean Delivery (C-Section)
A cesarean section is a highly reliable and modern surgical method that saves lives in cases where vaginal delivery carries a risk for the mother or baby.

In Which Situations Is It Preferred? It is performed planned or as an emergency in medical necessities such as the baby being breech or transverse, the placenta covering the birth canal, the baby being larger than normal, the mother having had previous uterine surgery, or the baby’s heartbeat deteriorating during labor.
Anesthesia Methods: Today, cesarean deliveries are mostly performed with “Spinal or Epidural Anesthesia.” In this way, the mother is awake, feels no pain in the surgical area, and can hear her baby’s first cry the moment they are born and immediately embrace them.
